Dumplin’ is another young adult adaptation Netflix releaseased in December 2018 starring Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Mcdonald complimented by Dolly Parton music throughout. The film is based upon a book with the sam title by Julie Murphy.
Dumplin’ (Danielle Macdonald) is the plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen (Jennifer Aniston), who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.
Quite a few people had recommended Dumplin’ to me as an easy watch knowing I’m a sucker for a coming of age rom/com film.
So I decided to give it a go when I was working my way though a few films I had been meaning to watch. Dumplin is definitely a little bit predictable however that doesn’t take away from the heart warming, feel good story line. The characters are very likeable and at times relateable. There are some touching moments which when linked with the overall film makes it a must watch for an easy watch on a lay Sunday afternoon
