One year a go I ran the London Marathon and it definitely taught me a lot about myself.
I signed up to the marathon wanting to show that I can do whatever I set my mind to. A lot of people said I wouldn’t be able to complete it. Many people afterwards have said and still say ‘did you walk it?’
For me the marathon is a symbol of how I cope with my life. I just keep going, things may crop up, there are hurdles but no matter what I carry on. It might hurt at times but yo get passed that.
Yes it might have taken me 7 hours and 14 minutes to complete it, but I never thought I was going to have a record breaking finish time. All I wanted to do was finish it and that’s exactly what I did.
I now know that my brute strength and determination will always get me through things no matter how hard they are.
Every challenge in life is different. The marathon was a challenge I signed up for and was one that I wanted to complete, and I did.
To the people who are doing the London marathon this year – I hope that you enjoy it, the atmosphere is something else! Just make sure you don’t sit down until you don’t have to get back up again haha!
