When this post goes live, I will be at the 20th Cardiff Pride with my girlfriend and my parents. I am very excited to be able to take my parents to Pride, fingers crossed the weather is good! I will be posting about what we got up to during Pride very soon so make sure you check back or are following this blog, so you don’t miss it!
Last weekend Marysia and I decided to have a little date dayand go for lunch followed by a trip to the cinema as we haven’t done this in awhile.
My day started by getting a train to Swansea to meet Marysia. I managed to get an earlier train than I would normally get when staying with Marysia as the rugby was on in Cardiff between Wales and England.
Marysia met me at the train station before we went and foundsomewhere to get some lunch. We decided on going to the Slug and Lettuce. Marysiahad a burger and I had a steak. After a little bit of persuasion from Marysia, Ialso tried calamari for the first time, I ended up really enjoying it.
We then headed to the cinema where we had already decided to see The Lion King. I haven’t seen many of the Disney remakes, in fact the only one I have seen is The Beauty and the Beast and I really enjoyed that. However, as there aren’t any actual people in The Lion King I was unsure how they would be able to remake it and if they would be able to do the original justice by remaking it, I mean the soundtrack from the original is iconic. Plus, I had heard a lot of conflicting reviews from people who had already seen it – it seemed to be a case of either you loved it or hated it there was going to be no in between.
I have to say that I loved it.
I was hooked from beginning to end and seeing one of my favourite Disney film pretty much come to life through the CGI animation felt like I was watching an episode of Our Planet the graphics were that realistic. Jon Favreau, the director, in my opinion absolutely did the original Lion King justice. Keegan Michael-Key, Eric Andre and Florence Kasumba, the voices of the three hyenas – Kamari, Azizi and Shenzi are brilliant and I found them hilarious.
I personally would recommend going and seeing it but I wasdefinitely won over by the realistic animation and the fact Jon Favreau managedto modernise a much loved Disney classic.
Once we left the cinema we headed off to go and pick up some shopping so that we could have a roast dinner the following day. We then went back to Marysia’s where I gave making zapiekanka a go. It is really easy to make and I enjoyed being able to remake a bit of our Polish holiday.
It was so good to spend some quality time with Marysia as we hadn’t seen each other for 2 weeks. Plus it was good to go to the cinema again as we hadn’t been in a while, hopefully we don’t leave it so long until we venture back into the cinema again!
