Due to catching Covid in February I spent a lot of time in bed in front of the television and it meant I managed to tick quite a few things off of my to watch list!
I watched a few things I would not recommend to anyone, but I did manage to see quite a few things that I really enjoyed.
Here are my top 5:
The Drowning (Channel 5)
This was quite a quick watch as it only has 4 parts but it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat (well more like the edge of my bed). The storyline may be a bit out there for some people and not entirely believable. Jill Halfpenny’s acting was brilliant, and I really liked the way she portrayed her character called Jodie.
This series would make for a good watch on a rainy weekend afternoon.
Superstore (Netflix)
I absolutely LOVED Superstore on Netflix, I stumbled across it and put it on as something to watch in the background, but it wasn’t long before it drew me in, and I binge watched it. The storyline is well written, the jokes are great, and my favourite character is by far Dina who is played by Lauren Ash. I was gutted when I found out it had been cancelled after the sixth season – I hope they find a way to bring it back at some point as I found it to be a great pick me up with so many laugh out loud moments.
The Serpent (BBC)
One day I was saying to my Mum that I had watched everything, and she suggested I watched The Serpent as she had seen it advertised somewhere but hadn’t watched it herself. Seeing as I did not have anything else to watch I decided to give it a go. I really enjoy anything that is based upon a true story so this had a good chance of being something I would enjoy.
It is an 8-part series so you could easily binge watch it in a day or over the course of a weekend – although I wouldn’t recommend watching it if you are planning on going travelling or know someone who is.
To begin with I found it a little difficult to keep up with the timeline jumping back and forth but once I got used to it, I had no problems following the storyline and found that it really contributed to the keeping the story moving forward. The parts are all portrayed well by the various actors and actresses – Jenna Coleman portrayed her part so well!
Behind Her Eyes (Netflix)
Behind Her Eyes appealed to me as soon as I saw it appear on Netflix. It did not disappoint with the storyline the twist and turns kept me gripped the whole way through. The twist in the last episode was not what I had in mind at all. I really hope there is another season. If you enjoyed series like ‘You’ (which I am looking forward to starting up again) and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ then this will be up your street.
Atypical (Netflix)
Marysia said that I should give Atypical a go as it she thought it was my kind of thing. She was definitely right about that.
The characters are very likeable and relatable and portrayed very well by the actors and actresses. I enjoyed the way the relationships evolved over time. Plus the episodes being 30 minutes each meant it was very easy to binge watch a season at a time.
I am looking forward to the next and final season starting up to see how the character’s lives are continued.
