It is important for me to write this post as honestly as possible so that I will be able to reflect upon it in the future.

Ever since I have had covid my physical health has not been what it was before. Slowly but surely it has been getting worse which has resulted in it getting me down mentally too.

I have had a lot of blood tests, doctors appointments and various other things going on to try and find out what is going on with my body and why I am feeling/ have the symptoms that I do.

Some of the symptoms I have being experience I have had for a while but have been progressively getting worse.

My Symptoms

  • Skin irritation/ particularly on my scalp which blisters
  • Diarrhoea
  • Exhaustion
  • Acid Reflux
  • Achy and painful joints
  • Bloating
  • Vitamin D Deficiency
  • Plus many others

Where I am At Now

I bit the bullet and went to the doctor after feeling so run down and unwell for a long period of time that I just couldn’t cope anymore. So I have been back and forth doing blood tests, keeping a food diary and symptom tracker among other things.

We are now at a stage where I have been told I have coeliac disease and to remove gluten from my diet.

In all honesty it wasn’t until I started keeping the food diary that I realised how much of the food I consume has gluten in.

Knowing that I now have a likely cause for how I have been feeling is a relief and I can already feel an improvement to my mental health. It is also a relief to know that I can start working towards improving my health.

Going Forward

I have already removed gluten from my diet as I was advised to by my doctor to monitor my symptoms and see how they improve. It is a bit of a minefield of information trying to learn and understand what I can and can’t eat but I am slowly getting my head around it. I know that there will be some mistakes along the way but I am just glad to have a starting point to move forward.

The doctors have already set the expectation that I will not feel better straight away and that it will take a different amount of time for different symptoms to improve.

I am hoping to do some updates here to keep track of my improvements/ hurdles and reflecting on how I am feeling and what is going on regarding my health.
