Originally visiting South Africa was going to be a holiday and a chance to spend some time with Marysia’s parents. However due to the pandemic our original trip was delayed, then our new dates included our wedding although this also ended up being postponed until now. This meant the first week of our three week visit was all about our wedding. We were very fortunate that Marysia’s Mum organised the whole day and we pretty much needed to turn up.

Wednesday 11th May 2022

We had an early start as our wedding preparations began. It was very exciting so I didn’t mind waking up early.

First, we both had hair appointments to colour and trim our hair. I decided to opt for a dark red colour as I know this colour suits me quite well, it was also quite nice to have the ends taken off of my hair. It had been a while since I have been to the hairdresser and I love the fact you always get a head massage when they wash your hair. I went first with getting my hair dyed as my colour needed to be on longer.

Once we were both finished getting our hair done we headed to Tania’s coffee shop, Used To Bee New, where we had a quick hot drink before Marysia headed off to get her nails done. Whilst Marysia was having her nails done I had an amazing omelette for lunch – I didn’t realise that I had become quite hungry in amongst all the excitement of everything going on. We also had AMAZING milkshakes after all of our pampering was done too!

It wasn’t long before it was time for me to get my nails done and for Marysia to head over to the eyebrow lady. So Marysia’s Mum and I walked over for me to swap with her although Marysia wasn’t quite done so we waited a little while before it was time for me to swap with her.

We had a little bit of time to chill out before getting ready to meet Patrick, who was going to be our master of ceremonies, and his wife Carol. We had a really nice chilled evening having some drinks and chatting with them.

Today was the first time that our wedding in South Africa actually felt as though it was definitely happening and that we could get excited about it as we were finally in South Africa. Plus there was very little that could happen which would result in it being postponed!
